Frank Uzzolina, aka “Fuzz”, began diving in 1974 when he earned his NASDS open water diver certification. He was introduced to Treasure Cove in 1995 and joined the staff in 1996 as a service technician. As a machinist his mechanical ability attracted him to regulator repair and he became a licensed scuba service technician and has attended many regulator repair seminars over the past 13 years. He also holds a PSI cylinder inspector rating as well as being an IANTD nitrox and trimix gas blender.
Fuzz’s highest diving certification is Advanced Trimix. He also holds instructor certifications with SSI as a Dive Control Specialist Instructor with multiple specialty instructor ratings and is an Advanced Nitrox Instructor with IANTD. Frank was also an instructor with the YMCA of America’s YSCUBA program before the program disbanded in 2008.
Over his dive career, Fuzz has visited Palau,
Truk Lagoon, Grenada, Cozumel and many other international destinations. He also has dove along the east coast of the U.S.A from Rhode Island to Key Largo, FL. As an atlantic wreck diver, he thoroughly enjoys diving the shipwrecks of New Jersey and New York. Frank’s favorite shipwreck dive to date is a toss up between the Black Sunday wreck of the SS Carolina and the Submarine S-5 off of Cape May.
The highlight of Fuzz’s diving career was having the pleasure of training and certifying his son and two young grandsons. According to Fuzz, “Teaching my family to dive ensures that my love of diving will be carried on through generations.”
